What does it mean to be an artist? Ten artists from Dresden and the surrounding area offer their very personal answers to this question in the exhibition “Wir machen Kunst”. The participating artists work in a wide variety of fields: dance, sculpture, music, theater, painting, and printmaking.
Dresden-based photographer Anja Schneider has captured them in large-format portraits developed in collaboration with the artists. The photographs are complemented by character profiles in which the subjects speak for themselves or describe their artistic self-image in various ways. These are included in the exhibition booklet.
The exhibition invites dialogue about art, barriers, and self-determined participation. The Kunstverein Dresden aims to actively shape this discourse while also serving as a place for exchange and encounter.
"Wir machen Kunst” is part of the project “The Body is Moving,” which is funded by the Landesdirektion Sachsen.
